Praghna Centre for Research advocates and encourages original research on Indian scriptures and treatises with a view to explore the relevance and applicability of their concepts/principles/teachings to the issues faced by the contemporary world. From ancient times till modernity, India has been a store house of knowledge on philosophy, sciences and spiritual pursuits. From mathematics, astronomy, medicine, biology and botonany, architecture, metallurgy and other sciences to exploring the purpose of life, India's contrbutions to various fields of knowledge has been immense. With the advent of Colonial rule however, the system of education underwent a substantial shift. It focused on English education and therefore western concepts, eclipsing the derived knowledge already available to Indian civilization. Everything western began to be elevated as a sign of modernity and the study of native wealth of knowledge systems slowly faded away from popular appeal. While western institutions and scholars continued to research and further Indian knowledge systems, sometimes even adapting them to their own purposes, such studies in India went out of fashion, as the pursuit of education itself began to be seen only as a tool to secure a livelihood.
The New Education Policy introduced by Government of India in 2020 brought in a new focus, promoting the study of Indian Knowledge System yet again in Higher Education Institutes. Slowly, IKS is being introduced in colleges and universities with the objective of facilitating the confluence of native knowledge systems with those across the world, and help India develop as a knowledge-leader in the world.
Praghna Centre for research makes a humble endeavour through this page to help students and researchers access treatises and scriptures of ancient India. We are doing this by two methods: 1. Create a repository of such treatises and scriptures that relate to various fields of science by providing links to original and translated texts wherever they are available in Open Access format. 2. Provide the means to take notes, create citations and save such notes/citations for individual research.
We must state that the copyright or ownership of the texts listed here do not belong to Praghna Centre for Research. They belong to the authors, portals or publishers hosting them. In order to ensure that we do not in any manner infringe upon the copyrights, we only provide the title, author name and the source where the full text can be accessed. Shorld we be intimated by email at director.pls@praghna.org that any of the works listed are under copyrights dispute, we would remove such entires from the tables below.
